A heavy rain in Da Lat City, a tourist attraction in Vietnam’s Central Highlands province of Lam Dong, on Wednesday brought life to a halt, as many inner-city streets were heavily flooded.

At 1:45 pm the same day, the rain showed no signs of abating, having swamped the area for almost two hours.

The heavily inundated streets are mostly located near Cam Ly and Phan Dinh Phung springs.

These are flood-prone areas being reported in the city recently.

The Da Lat administration said it dispatched forces to the affected areas to cope with the flooding as well as closely monitor locations vulnerable to landslides to promptly take response measures.

In addition, several inner-city areas experienced hail, which often occurs in Da Lat at the beginning of the rainy season.

Hail usually hits locations housing agro greenhouses.

A city official told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that most flooded streets are situated near downstream areas which are home to a small number of tourism and lodging facilities, but the authorities still attach great importance to efforts to ensure the safety of tourists and locals.
