Authorities in Dak Nong Province, located in Vietnam's Central Highlands, evacuated over 50 people to shelters after a 200-meter-long crack in the ground appeared in Tuy Duc District following two loud noises on Tuesday.

“In addition to relocating people from the affected area, the grassroots authorities are collaborating with the provincial authorities to conduct a comprehensive survey and evaluation to identify the cause of the incident and devise a fundamental solution,” said Tran Vinh Phu, deputy chairman of Tuy Duc District.

Numerous local residents reported hearing two loud noises and sensing ground movement between Monday midnight and early Tuesday morning, after which a fissure approximately 200 meters long was spotted on the ground surface.

The widest point of the crack measured about five centimeters.

Local authorities dispatched relevant units to the scene to evaluate landslide risk.

During the inspection, officials observed that the fracture had affected different areas like the asphalt road surface and residential properties.
