The coast guard force of Hai Phong City in northern Vietnam on Monday saved seven sailors from Hong Kong after their boat was pummeled by waves and went aground.
The Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority said on the same day that the authority had joined hands with coast guards to promptly rescue the victims in the waters off Hai Phong.
At 0:30, a Hong Kong-flagged ship called Glory was moored to the Lach Huyen port in Cat Hai District in the city, after the vessel with seven sailors on board was washed away by strong waves and winds, and ran aground in a nearby breakwater area.
After being notified of the incident, the Hai Phong Maritime Port Authority mobilized speedboats, ships, and coast guards to carry out rescue operations.
However, high waves and strong winds slowed down the rescue process.
Several hours after rescue efforts began, the seven sailors were brought to safety and given medical assistance.

Rescuers have found the body of Nguyen Van Xa, 53, eight kilometers from the scene of a shipwreck.
The rescuers are enhancing their efforts to search for the bodies of the remaining two victims, identified as Nguyen Thi Gia, 52, and her 18-year-old son, Nguyen Tuan Anh.
Their family set sail for the coastal area off Hai Phong and lost contact on Friday last week.
