A truck crashed into a motorbike and an electric bicycle after being hit by another truck, killing three people on the spot in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam on Friday morning, the provincial traffic police said the same day.
The accident happened at 6:30 am on a section of National Highway 1 in Cam Ranh City, Khanh Hoa Province when a truck driven by Vo Ngoc Tung, a 30-year-old resident in Phu Yen Province, a neighbor of Khanh Hoa, collided with another truck whose driver was Nguyen Van Phuc, 31, residing in southern Ben Tre Province, running in the same direction.
Phuc's truck later hit the electric bicycle about to cross the road and the motorbike in the same direction, claiming the lives of the two people on the electric bicycle -- H.T.M., 57, and her 12-year-old grandchild D.T.H., as well as the motorbike rider -- N.Q., 65.
All of them resided in Cam Ranh City.
The crash deformed the motorbike and the electric bicycle while slightly damaging the two trucks.
Vo Ngoc Tung, the trucker from Phu Yen Province, was injured so local residents rushed him to hospital.
Local authorities are investigating the cause of the accident.
