The transport authority in Ho Chi Minh City has endorsed proposals on traffic arrangement along six road sections adjacent to Nguyen Hue Pedestrian Street in District 1, including one to set up three parking spots for motorcycles.
According to the proposals submitted by the District 1 administration, part of the roadway of Mac Thi Buoi, Ngo Duc Ke, and Hai Trieu Streets would be transformed into three motorcycle parking areas.
Part of the sidewalks along Nguyen Hue Street would be designated as areas for services and commercial purposes.
Besides, all vehicles would be barred from six road sections near the pedestrian street from 7:00 pm to 11:00 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
These sections include the Ngo Duc Ke section, enclosed by Dong Khoi and Nguyen Hue Streets, as well as Ho Tung Mau and Nguyen Hue Streets; the Nguyen Thiep and Mac Thi Buoi sections, both delineated by Dong Khoi and Nguyen Hue Streets; and the Hai Trieu, Huynh Thuc Khang, and Ton That Thiep sections, all bordered by Ho Tung Mau and Nguyen Hue Streets.
The municipal Department of Transport will complete a draft plan on traffic arrangement along these road sections and issue an official version this month.
The department told the District 1 administration to make preparations to implement the proposals as well as work out a plan to collect parking fees as per prevailing regulations.
It will also ask the city’s Road Traffic Infrastructure Management Center and the District 1 administration to process procedures needed to take charge of the said road sections.
