Tourism in Ho Chi Minh City has thrived significantly in recent years due to the concerted efforts and resolve of the government at all levels, enterprises, and the general public.
The implementation of programs to stimulate tourism demand, enhance and diversify tourism products, and highlight distinctive tourism offerings has all been prioritized.
Furthermore, the integration of digital technology into the tourism sector has been actively encouraged.
Since 2019, the tourism sector in the city has implemented advanced technologies extensively.
As an example, it has introduced the ‘Smart Interactive 3D/360 Tourism Map of Ho Chi Minh City’ (Map 3D/360), which serves as a systematic implementation of 3D technology for the purpose of promoting tourism.

What is Map 3D/360?
‘Smart Interactive 3D/360 Tourism Map of Ho Chi Minh City’ is the full name of the application ‘Map 3D/360.’
The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism developed this innovative application with the purpose of offering visitors a more comprehensive view of the city's tourist destinations via vivid 3D/360 videos and images.
Starting its operations in 2019, Map 3D/360 has constructed a 3D/360 imaging system covering over 100 landmarks, museums, amusement centers, hotels, and conference centers in Ho Chi Minh City.

The image system is entirely integrated with audio, multilingual text, and 3D VR clips that are digitized by specialized devices and transported to a virtual reality environment at a ratio of 100 percent.
Before the creation of the 3D/360 Map, visitors seeking information about tourist destinations in the city would have to refer to a variety of sources, including television, the press, websites, fan pages, destination publications, and travel companies directly, among others.
The factors mentioned above introduced several limitations, including significant time requirements for information search and compilation, incomplete data on numerous destinations, unattractive 2D images, limited perspectives, occasional inaccuracies, outdated information, as well as scattered and disconnected data.
These challenges extended to difficulties in comparing and selecting destinations, as well as hindrances in designing itineraries and discovering experiences in Ho Chi Minh City.
However, all of these constraints have now been completely addressed with the introduction of the smart Map 3D/360.
