A school in Da Nang was evacuated after an unidentified man threw a suspicious suitcase at the school’s front gate on Wednesday.
Prior to the evacuation, a security guard at Phan Chau Trinh High School spotted a suspicious man idling by the front gate with the suitcase.
The guard tried to question the man, but he just tossed the suitcase at the school’s gate and ran away.
The security guard then reported the incident to the school’s administration who chose to alert local police and military forces.
The suitcase contains jars of paint, screwdrivers, and empty envelopes. |
Local residents and netizens, seeing images of the incident online, were worried that there might be a bomb inside the suitcase.
But the forces searched the suitcase and found only jars of paint, screwdrivers, and empty envelopes.
Local agencies later determined the owner of the suitcase as L.Q.D., a 36-year-old resident of Hai Chau District in Da Nang.
D.’s family confirmed that he is currently being treated for mental illness.
Authorities are still investigating the case.
