A myriad of flowering plants are being grown on a 40,000-square-meter plot of land in Cao Lanh City, Dong Thap Province, southern Vietnam to serve tourists during the upcoming Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet.
The flower-growing area is located at the Ngo Thoi Nhiem Park and a section of Ngo Thi Nham and Dang Van Binh Streets, according to the city’s management authority of public works.
This Tet-themed flower garden will feature 5,000 lantanas, 5,000 sunflower plants, and roughly 36,000 other flowering plants.
On Thursday morning, around 30 people from the said management authority and local forces were jointly growing the flower plants in the area, according to observations by a Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper reporter.
Ho Nhu Xuan, a middle school student who was joining the forces to plant the flowers, expressed her hope that a large number of visitors would come to Cao Lanh to explore the colorful beauty of the garden and witness the fast-growing growth of this city in the Mekong Delta region.
The city is set to complete planting the flowers by February 3, or the 24th day of the 12th lunar month.
The Cao Lanh administration plans to organize a flower street and host a fireworks display to celebrate the arrival of the Year of the Dragon.
