Four people riding two motorbikes traveling in the wrong direction on the Noi Bai-Lao Cai Expressway in northern Vietnam collided with a truck, resulting in their fatalities on Wednesday.

The traffic police department under the Ministry of Public Security reported that the accident occurred around 3:40 pm on the 245km-long freeway, involving a truck driven by N.V.B., a 33-year-old resident of Lao Cai, from the northern province to Hanoi.

The truck collided with two motorbikes traveling in the opposite direction.

The motorbikes were carrying Nguyen Van H., 13, Tran Anh M., 17, Dang Tuan A., 18, and Phan Khanh Ng., 15, all from Bat Xat District in Lao Cai Province.

The crash resulted in the immediate death of all four teenagers, with the local investigation agency initially attributing the accident to the two motorbikes traveling in the wrong direction on the expressway, which only allows automobiles.

The investigation is ongoing.
