The People’s Court in Quang Binh Province, north-central Vietnam has approved a female official's resignation after she traveled to the U.S. but did not return as committed.

Nguyen Huu Tuyen, chief justice of the provincial People’s Court, confirmed on Tuesday that the official, named P.T.M.Ng., submitted an application for 12 days of annual leave in November last year.

She wrote in the application that she would travel to the U.S. for sightseeing and visiting her relatives.

The court approved her application.

Despite this, Ng. did not resume work at the court following her leave, nor did she seek permission to extend her absence.

One of Ng.'s family members later came to the court to submit her letter of resignation.

The court reported the case to its higher-level agency and approved her resignation.
