Thousands of households in Tien Giang Province, southern Vietnam have spent sleepless nights getting cans of fresh water from public faucets over the past few days.
As districts in the east of the province, such as Go Cong Dong and Tan Phu Dong, are located at the end of the clean water supply system, most local households there have had no clean water for several days.
Meanwhile, water supplies from canals have been depleted.
As a result, they have to queue up to take cans of water from 60 public taps installed along the roads.
Nguyen Thi Dieu, a 78-year-old resident in Go Cong Dong District, said most of the canals near her house have dried up.
Thanks to the public water supply sites, her family has had clean water.
However, it takes many hours to get water given the weak water flow in the taps.

A leader of Tien Giang Water Supply Co. Ltd. said the 60 public taps can supply 3,000 cubic meters of water per day.
Over the past few days, the water resource is limited while the demand has increased, the leader explained.
The company is coordinating with Dong Tam water plant, also in Tien Giang, to increase the water supply.
