-- Nguyen Van Duoc, a member of the Party Central Committee and deputy secretary of the Ho Chi Minh City Party Committee, was elected chairman of the municipal People’s Committee for the 2021-26 term on Thursday.
-- The Vietnamese Embassy in Mexico has provided support for 11 Vietnamese nationals recently rescued by Mexican police in a kidnapping incident that took place in Chihuahua State, near the U.S. border. These Vietnamese citizens are currently housed at an immigration facility in Villahermosa City, Tabasco state, nearly 800 kilometers from Mexico City, and are in stable health.

-- Many localities in the northern region are forecast to experience drizzle and fog on Friday, while the central and southern regions might see scattered showers and thunderstorms, according to the national weather center.
-- The Ha Long Climate 2025 art program, running from February to June 2025, is set to feature a series of activities aimed at raising public awareness of climate change and environmental protection, bringing together hundreds of rich people from Europe to Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh.
-- Each Vietnamese used some 3.8 kilograms of plastic items in 1990, but the figure surged to 81 kilograms in 2019, heard a seminar on green packaging held in Binh Duong Province, southern Vietnam on Thursday.

-- Domestic retail prices of gasoline products were revised up at 3:00 pm on Thursday, according to an announcement jointly released by the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The price of biofuel E5 RON92 is capped at VND20,855 (US$0.8) per liter, up VND257 per liter, while the popular RON95-III gasoline now sells for VND21,330 per liter, increasing by the same level.
-- The selling price of SJC-branded gold bars jumped to VND92.3 million ($3,616) per tael on Thursday, hitting a record high.
-- Schneider Electric, a global energy management and automation company based in France, the Schneider Electric Foundation and other units on Thursday opened the Center of Excellence at Ly Tu Trong Technical College in Ho Chi Minh City, pledging to train over 45,000 future engineers in Vietnam.
