-- President of Brazil Lula da Silva has invited Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh to attend the G20 Summit slated for this November in Brazil. Brazilian Minister of Foreign Affairs Mauro Vieira conveyed this invitation to PM Chinh during the former’s visit to Vietnam from Tuesday to Wednesday this week.

-- The Authority of Broadcasting and Electronic Information, under the Vietnamese Ministry of Information and Communications, on Wednesday ordered Netflix Inc., a subscription-based streaming service for watching TV shows and movies, to stop advertising and distributing its video games in Vietnam before April 25, as the U.S. streaming platform has not been granted a license for providing game services in the country.

-- The buffer zone of U Minh Thuong District in Kien Giang Province, southern Vietnam experienced severe land subsidence induced by prolonged drought, prompting authorities to declare a state of emergency on Wednesday.

-- A certain number of eateries offering chicken rice in Nha Trang City, a popular beach destination in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam, has shut down over poor sales, following many suspected food poisoning incidents linked to chicken dishes in the area.

-- Bien Hoa City in Dong Nai Province, a Ho Chi Minh City neighbor, has logged its hottest day so far, with temperatures soaring to 40 degrees Celsius at noon on Tuesday, said a local official on Wednesday.

-- Vietnam's military-run telecom service provider Viettel put its data center in Hanoi into service on Wednesday, marking the launch of the largest data center in Vietnam so far. The facility has a total floor area of 21,000 square meters and a total capacity of 30 megawatts.

-- Floods engulfed cities and towns across Russia and Kazakhstan on Wednesday after Europe's third-longest river burst its banks, forcing about 110,000 people to evacuate and swamping parts of the Russian city of Orenburg, Reuters reported.

-- Gold prices slipped from record-high levels on Wednesday as the U.S. dollar and Treasury yields firmed after a stronger-than-expected inflation print softened expectations of an early U.S. rate cut, according to Reuters.
