-- A person died and dozens were injured following a frontal crash between a passenger car and a tractor-trailer in Kon Tum Province, located in the Central Highlands region, on Saturday, a local official said the same day.

-- A landslide inside Bai Gio Tunnel in Khanh Hoa Province, south-central Vietnam has disrupted a North-South railway section through the province and neighboring Phu Yen Province since Friday afternoon.

-- The High Command of Coast Guard Region 4 under the Vietnam Coast Guard has detached a vessel to transport over 350,000 liters of fresh water to Ca Mau, the southernmost province of Vietnam.

-- The administration in Ho Chi Minh City has sought the prime minister’s approval for the 51-kilometer Ho Chi Minh City - Moc Bai Expressway connecting the city and neighboring Tay Ninh Province. The first phase of the project requires an estimated investment of some VND19.6 trillion ($783.4 million) and is expected to be commenced in April next year.

-- Police in Ho Chi Minh City have cracked down on a ring transporting 184 bricks of heroin from the southern metropolis to Taiwan, arresting three suspects, including two foreigners.

-- Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on Saturday attended the groundbreaking ceremony for an electronic printed circuit board factory in Hoa Binh Province, northern Vietnam. The factory, developed by Japan's Meiko Electronics, carries a price tag of VND4.66 trillion (US$186.3 million).

-- The Department of Education and Training in Ho Chi Minh City suggested that Google provide five million free accounts for local students and teachers at a seminar held in the city on Saturday.

-- The Ho Chi Minh City International Film Festival 2024 wrapped up on Saturday evening with ‘The Gospel of the Beast’ by 23-year-old Filipino director Sheron Dayoc honored as the best Southeast Asia film.

-- A pod of some 150 dolphins was spotted swimming off Mui Dien Cape in Phu Yen Province, south-central Vietnam on Saturday morning. 

World News

-- “One person was killed and 10 others injured in the southern Turkish province of Antalya when a cable car cabin collided with a broken pole, prompting a massive operation that rescued a further 174 passengers,” Reuters reported, citing Turkish officials.

-- “An attacker who fatally knifed six people in a Sydney mall was shot dead by police in the beachside suburb of Bondi on Saturday, as hundreds fled the scene,” Reuters quoted police as saying.
