Tra Vinh University in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh will receive the support for water purification technology from South Korea’s Aquaworks.
The university on Saturday welcomed a delegation of the South Korean company and signed a memorandum of understanding on cooperation in researching and developing water treatment technology.
With its experience in water purification and modern technology, the South Korean firm expected to help the university install and operate a water treatment system to save water effectively, protect the environment, and enhance adaptation to climate change, according to Yong-il Shin, a representative of Aquaworks.
Under the deal, Aquaworks will supply the university with water purification equipment to facilitate its study on water treatment.
The two sides will work together to boost research on water purification in a bid to provide clean water for residents’ daily activities and production in the province in particular and in the delta in general.
Many localities in Vietnam’s Southwest region are suffering from severe saline intrusion, leading to a dearth of fresh water.
Associate Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, vice-principal of the university, said that the signing acted as a key step to deal with the ongoing serious shortage of clean water.
