Little to no heed seems to be given to withered street-side trees in Ho Chi Minh City’s Binh Tan District, where some of them were said to have died half a year ago but have not been removed.
At noon on Tuesday, around six trees measuring some three meters tall each and lining a Ten Lua Street section in Binh Tri Dong B were found to have died.
Some of them already dried out and were leafless, while others saw their withered leaves gradually fall off the trees.
Some 15 meters away from this road section, another three trees in a row encountered the same fate.
A security guard of a coffee shop in the neighborhood said that he started working there in late 2023 when he noticed that these three trees had died.
Other trees saw their leaves begin to wilt around one month ago.

“I have no idea why these three [trees] died," the security guard elaborated.
“But no one came to replace the dead trees with new ones.”
Another tree lining Kinh Duong Vuong Street, also situated in Binh Tan, has shed almost all of its leaves over the past few months.
Earlier, Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper discovered that some 35 landscaping trees along Luong Ngoc Quyen Street in Go Vap District experienced similar conditions.
