A thick layer of fog enveloped many parts of the Mekong Delta region in southern Vietnam on Monday morning, leading to low visibility.
Residents in Ben Tre and Tien Giang Provinces were surprised by the thick mist.
Heavy fog covered several districts in Ben Tre around 5:00 am, while the blanket of smog along the Tien River did not weaken until 7:30 am.
Due to poor visibility, triggered by the dense mist, many commuters had to turn their headlights on in daytime, a rarity in southern Vietnam.

Similarly, many streets and roads in Tien Giang were blanketed by fog early in the morning.
High-rise buildings in the province were mostly engulfed in dense fog.
Many drivers said that they could not see further than 10 meters, making their movements tougher in the foggy weather.
The two provinces had previously reported heavy downpours lasting for several hours.
Vo Van Thong, director of the Tien Giang weather center, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that during the rainy season, daytime temperatures are high but drop at night, making it easy for fog to form.
