Vietnam’s Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 5, part of the Vietnamese peacekeeping force in the UN Mission in South Sudan (UNMISS), has conducted free health examinations for female members of the Ghanaian Formed Police Unit under the UNMISS.
The field hospital on Sunday said that it had organized a check-up and health consultancy program for 30 women of the Ghanaian police unit, as a move to strengthen the friendship and solidarity between the hospital and the police unit.
The health examinations included blood tests, abdominal endoscopy, thyroid checks, obstetric exams, cardiopulmonary X-rays, electrocardiograms, general internal exams, and teeth scaling.
Doctors and health workers at the hospital also provided consultations on dental and other health issues to the female police officers.
The hospital's management then guided the officers on a tour of the facilities, including the dental examination room and the ward for functional rehabilitation and physical therapies, where traditional Vietnamese medicine and acupuncture are used in treatment.
According to the hospital's leaders, the program was launched in celebration of the 79th Traditional Day of the Vietnamese People’s Public Security Force on August 19.
The event also aimed to honor and acknowledge the contributions of women in the UN peacekeeping forces.
During the occasion, the hospital presented gifts to the 30 officers and briefed them on the tradition, role, and significance of the Vietnamese People's Public Security Force.
Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 5, which consists of 63 members including 11 females, was deployed to South Sudan in July 2023 to replace Level-2 Field Hospital Rotation 4, Nhan Dan (People) newspaper reported.
