Authorities in Mui Ne, a popular beach destination in Binh Thuan Province, south-central Vietnam have ordered the removal of tents set up by street vendors who were caught on video dumping trash into the sea.

The incident came to light after a tourist posted a video on social media showing a vendor near the Apec Mandala Wyndham Mui Ne Hotel washing items on the beach and discarding waste into the water.

The video quickly went viral, sparking public outrage and prompting a swift response from local authorities to address the environmental violation.

Nguyen Van Tho, vice-chairman of Mui Ne Ward in Phan Thiet City, stated that local authorities had engaged with street vendors, instructing them to dismantle their tents and sign pledges to cease littering the sea.

Despite previous efforts to address such incidents, the problem persists.

Tho claimed that Mui Ne's extensive coastline, dotted with numerous street vendors, poses a significant challenge for authorities to effectively manage and prevent similar violations.
