The Ho Chi Minh City administration has unveiled a sculpture celebrating international friendship at Bach Dang Wharf Park, honoring friendship and cooperation between Vietnam’s southern business hub and its partners around the world.
An unveiling ceremony was held on Tuesday as part of the Second Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Dialogue.
Chairman of the municipal People’s Committee Phan Van Mai, his deputy Vo Van Hoan, Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang, and leaders from nearly 40 foreign localities with cooperative ties to Ho Chi Minh City were in attendance.

The sculpture is a Mobius strip – a one-sided rectangular strip with the ends affixed to each other after first twisting one end.
The design, inspired by the theme 'Water Waves Harmonize to Build Friendship,' symbolizes infinite growth and development.
The sculpture was designed by Bui Minh Chau, who won first prize in the Ho Chi Minh City Friendship Symbol Design Contest held last year by Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper and the city’s Department of External Relations with sponsorship from the Ho Chi Minh City Business Association and INSEE Cement Company.
Created using advanced 3D mapping technology and a water curtain, the sculpture illustrates connectivity and showcases cultural and artistic imagery, Hoan said, adding that it aims to introduce the city’s beauty and hospitality to international friends, while also symbolizing friendship, solidarity, and long-term cooperation between Ho Chi Minh City and its 58 global partners.

“The symbol was created as a show of appreciation for our international friends to feel proud and respected when visiting the city,” Hoan told the ceremony.
“It serves as a door connecting Ho Chi Minh City to the world.”
Hoan also used the ceremony to thank the international delegates in attendance for accompanying, supporting, and developing a close partnership with the city over the past years.
