Police in Hoa Binh Province, northern Vietnam busted an infant trafficking ring, arresting four women hailing from Ho Chi Minh City, Gia Lai Province, and Ha Giang Province, an officer said on Wednesday.

These suspects were identified as N.L.T.T., 29; D.T.T.S., 33; D.T.H.V., 33; and B.M.P., 29.

According to a police report, they rented two rooms at the Binh An 2 Hotel in the provincial city of Hoa Binh, where they operated the ring from.

While staying at the hotel, they allegedly took turns visiting the maternity ward of Hoa Binh Provincial General Hospital to meet with B.T.T., a 35-year-old mother from Lac Son District in Hoa Binh, to negotiate the sale of her newborn son.

Local police quickly intervened at the scene where the women were negotiating the deal.

Officers rescued the baby and apprehended the suspects.

An investigation into this baby trafficking ring is now underway.
