The People’s Committee of Da Nang City in central Vietnam is proposing to the municipal People’s Council the early utilization of completed infrastructure sections in phase 1 of the Software Park 2 project, while awaiting the full completion, acceptance, and handover of the entire phase for operation.
The park, with a total investment of VND1.4 trillion (US$55 million), celebrated the inauguration of phase 1 on January 16, marking a significant milestone in Da Nang’s technological infrastructure development.
However, it is still in the final stages of completion and has not yet been officially approved or handed over.
As a result, the Da Nang administration is unable to issue a decision to officially make phase 1 operational and open to the public.
The untransferred status of the information infrastructure assets has also delayed the approval of lease prices and the initiation of an office space leasing auction.
Despite these legal challenges, the Da Nang Department of Information and Communications has already signed memorandums of understanding with three leading technology partners – Marvell, FPT, and Sovitco – specializing in semiconductor and AI development.
These partnerships are expected to significantly enhance the park’s value and technological impact in the future.
In addition, approximately 30 businesses have expressed interest in leasing office space in the ICT1 building within the park, with total lease requests exceeding 25,000 square meters – surpassing the building's available capacity.
This strong demand underscores the growing interest from high-tech enterprises in establishing operations at the park.
Therefore, the Da Nang People’s Committee has emphasized the importance of allowing the early use of completed sections while finalizing the necessary legal and administrative procedures.
The administration has also proposed launching the auction process for office space leasing, even though phase 1 of the project is not yet finalized and accepted.
The project is located on a nearly 28.6-hectare site in Thuan Phuoc Ward, Hai Chau District, Da Nang City, and features a total floor area of more than 92,000 square meters.
Upon completion, it is expected to provide employment for about 6,000 workers.
The park is funded by the Da Nang Civil and Industrial Construction Investment Project Management Board, which also serves as the project manager, and is being constructed by a consortium that includes Vinaconex25, DCID, Thai Son, Corporation 319, and Le Vu, according to the Da Nang Urban Planning Institute.
