Vietnam's bustling and vibrant metropolises – Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City – have been listed among the world’s best destinations in various categories for 2025 by readers of TripAdvisor, a leading global travel site. 

In its 2025 Travelers' Choice Awards: Best of the Best Destinations, TripAdvisor honored Ho Chi Minh City in one category and Hanoi in three categories, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism.

This annual accolade celebrates destinations that have consistently received outstanding feedback from the global traveler community over the past year. 

Notably, fewer than one percent of TripAdvisor's eight million listings earn the 'Best of the Best' distinction.

Ho Chi Minh City has been recognized as one of the world's top 25 trending destinations, securing the 18th spot. 

TripAdvisor highlights Ho Chi Minh City as one of Vietnam’s largest and most dynamic urban centers, serving as the nation’s cultural and economic hub. 

With a mix of historic French colonial architecture, bustling markets, and a vibrant street food scene, the city offers travelers an exciting blend of tradition and modernity.

Other esteemed cities in this category include Osaka and Kyoto (Japan), Kuala Lumpur (Malaysia), Lima (Peru), Auckland (New Zealand), Seoul and Jeju Island (South Korea), and Johannesburg (South Africa).

Meanwhile, Hanoi, the nation's capital, has achieved commendable rankings across multiple categories: second in the top 25 cultural destinations, seventh among the top 25 destinations worldwide, and 14th in the top 25 all-time favorite destinations (on the occasion of TripAdvisor’s 25th anniversary). 

TripAdvisor highlights Hanoi as a city that seamlessly blends historical charm with contemporary vibrancy. 

The capital city’s centuries-old temples, colonial architecture, and rich cultural heritage create a captivating atmosphere for travelers. 

Despite undergoing many transformations over time, Hanoi has retained its historical essence, offering visitors an immersive experience of Vietnam’s past and present.
