The People's Committee of Da Nang, the capital city of central Vietnam, and the nation’s largest private conglomerate Vingroup on Tuesday signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to promote green transformation and sustainable growth, with a focus on green tourism, green transport, and eco-friendly lifestyles during the 2025-30 period.
Vingroup and the Da Nang administration will research opening an electric bus route connecting the city and neighboring Thua Thien-Hue Province to serve locals and tourists and increase the use of electric vehicles.
The partnership will explore plans to expand the use of electric buses in the city as part of a larger green energy transition.
Local authorities will also create favorable conditions for Vingroup to further operate electric taxis to reduce emissions and facilitate the installation of charging stations across the coastal city.
In particular, the two sides will join hands to develop carbon credit projects linked to electric vehicles and charging stations, and work together to complete the necessary steps for registering carbon credit projects on international carbon exchanges.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Le Trung Chinh, chairman of the municipal administration, emphasized the agreement's significance in advancing Da Nang’s green transition, aligning with the city's goal of becoming an environmentally sustainable urban center.
He commended Vingroup for its extensive experience and diverse business ecosystem, highlighting how the company’s expertise would complement the administration's commitment to green development.

The MoU also includes plans to explore mechanisms and policies to develop a free trade zone and a financial hub in Da Nang, apart from the intention of researching and investing in technologies and digital transformation.
Both parties will take into account the development of semiconductor, artificial intelligence, and high-quality workforce training aspects.
In terms of urban development, both will collaborate on projects related to smart, green urban areas, plus a social housing project in Van Village.
Le Thi Thu Thuy, vice-chairwoman of Vingroup, expressed the company’s commitment to partnering with Da Nang in its green transformation journey.
She highlighted the importance of creating a sustainable living environment and improving the quality of life for residents.
Vingroup has signed similar deals with other provinces such as Binh Dinh, Vinh Phuc, Thai Nguyen, and Thua Thien-Hue, as well as with leading companies like Viettel, FPT, and VinaChem in a bid to achieve a sustainable growth model and the ambitious goal of reducing carbon emissions to zero by 2050, in line with the government’s commitments.
