-- An Indonesian man wrote a thank-you letter to Vietnamese police for finding and returning a smartphone that he accidentally left at Tan Son Nhat International Airport in Ho Chi Minh City on March 17.

-- Traffic police in District 1, Ho Chi Minh City are coordinating with relevant units to verify a video showing a man sitting on a moving suitcase while talking on the phone on Le Thanh Ton Street. Police identified the man as a foreigner.

-- The Hanoi Center for Disease Control has reported the first measles-related death in the city in 2025, who is a four-year-old child from Nam Tu Liem District.

-- Authorities in Phu Quoc City, Kien Giang Province, located in southern Vietnam, are investigating a case in which a teacher physically abused several students at a kindergarten after multiple short videos of the incident were shared on social media, a local official said on Saturday.

-- Traffic police officers from the Traffic Police Department announced that they had issued an administrative violation record against a group of Porsche drivers from Ho Chi Minh City and neighboring Dong Nai Province who were driving recklessly and not following the designated lanes on a Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway section in northern Yen Bai Province on March 19. Each of them was fined VND5 million (US$195.4) and had two points deducted from their driver's licenses.

-- Ho Chi Minh City has climbed seven spots to rank 98th out of 119 cities in this year’s Global Financial Centers Index, achieving its highest position since debuting in the index in 2022 at 102nd place, the Vietnam News Agency reported.

-- Vietnam’s electric vehicle maker VinFast reported on Friday that it had signed a memorandum of Understanding with Indonesia's vehicle distributor PT Aribi Amartapura to open 22 VinFast showrooms in Indonesia in 2025-27.

World News

-- Pope Francis, who has been battling pneumonia for more than five weeks, will be discharged from hospital on Sunday but will need a further two months of rest at the Vatican, Reuters reported, citing the head of his medical team on Saturday.
