A forward of the Vietnamese national team will join a Belgian league side as soon as next week, a source told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper on Sunday night.

Nguyen Cong Phuong will play for Sint-Truiden, a club in Belgium’s top-flight Jupiler Pro League, on a loan deal, the source from Vietnam’s top-league team Hoang Anh Gia Lai said.

Hoang Anh Gia Lai now owns Phuong.

A signing ceremony will be organized in Ho Chi Minh City next week, according to the same source.

Local media speculate that the Vietnamese forward will be loaned to the Belgian club for one year.

Phuong ended his four-month stint at South Korea’s league club Incheon United in early June, playing eight games there and scoring no goal. He had signed a one-year loan deal with the Korean club in February.

A top striker on the national squad, Phuong will play for the club that ranked 7th out of 16 teams in the 2018-19 Jupiler Pro League, earning 47 points after 30 matches.

Sint-Truiden were founded in Sint-Truiden, Limburg in February 1924. Their Stayen stadium can seat 14,600 spectators.

The club's best league ranking was second in 1965-66.

They are coached by Marc Brys, a former Belgian footballer.
