More than 3,200 people, including professional and amateur runners, in Vietnam and from other countries, on Sunday gathered in the Mekong Delta province of Dong Thap to take part in the Dat Sen Hong (The Land of Pink Lotus) Marathon.

Runners registering for the 42-kilometer distance started at 3:00 am in Sa Dec City, while the starting position of those running 21, 10, and five kilometers was at Van Mieu Park in Cao Lanh City. All of them finished at the park.

The running event was held in Dong Thap for the first time.

Besides runners from abroad and other parts of Vietnam, the tournament attracted many locals, including elderly people and children.

Despite leg impairments, Nguyen Thi Kim Quang and Nguyen Thi Minh Tam, both residing in Cao Lanh City, enthusiastically took part in the marathon and completed the five-kilometer race.

The organizer of the marathon awarded the first, second, and third prizes to male and female runners in each distance.

Prizes were also given to those reaching the Cao Lanh Bridge fastest and groups of runners with outstanding results.
