The Vietnam women’s football team has wrapped up a successful training camp in Europe in preparation for key tournaments next year, according to head coach Mai Duc Chung.
The team recently played three friendly matches against local women’s clubs during the two-week training camp in the Czech Republic and Germany.
They secured 6-0 and 3-0 victories against FK Pardubice and FC Viktoria Plzen in the Czech Republic on September 8 and 11, respectively.
However, they had suffered a 0-2 loss to RB Leipzig in Germany on September 4.
Head coach Mai Duc Chung evaluated the training trip positively, noting significant progress and improved physical fitness among the players.
“In the first match against RB Leipzig, we faced a strong opponent,” Chung commented.
“The long travel by bus impacted our performance, leading to a 0-2 loss.
“Despite this, we had some scoring opportunities.
“In the second match, we defeated a less challenging opponent 6-0.
“I made several adjustments, which allowed us to evaluate the players more thoroughly.
“I was particularly satisfied with our game against FC Viktoria Plzen on September 11.
“It wasn’t just about the score but the team’s playing style.
“We effectively used our strengths against taller opponents by keeping the ball low and coordinating quickly.
“I also appreciated the players’ bold long-range shots.”

Chung highlighted that training in Europe, with its excellent facilities, provided valuable development opportunities for the players.
“Our physical strength has improved, and the team is gradually understanding each other better, leading to a more open playing style,” he added.
“I consider this training trip a success and I am grateful to the Vietnam Football Federation for their support.”
To prepare for future international competitions and rejuvenate the team, Chung included several young players in this training camp, including some from the U20 age group.
“The young players have integrated well with the senior team and are improving physically,” he noted.
“Although the training period was short, we adjusted exercises and intensity to help them catch up.”
However, Chung acknowledged areas for improvement, such as ball handling, passing, and observation skills.
The team is scheduled to head for Hanoi on Sunday and is expected to arrive at Noi Bai International Airport at 1:55 pm on Monday.
