The Ho Chi Minh City Department of Tourism has announced a massive tourism promotion program in Phnom Penh, Cambodia and Bangkok, Thailand to introduce Vietnam’s tourist attractions.
The Vietnam - Ho Chi Minh City tourism roadshow led by Bui Thi Ngoc Hieu, deputy director of the municipal tourism department, and featuring the participation of some 20 Vietnamese tour operators and many representatives of Vietnamese hospitals and medical facilities, kicked off in the capital city of Cambodia on Monday.
The tourism roadshow is set to focus on introducing the diversity of new tourism products and services in Vietnam in general and Ho Chi Minh City in particular.
Wellness tourism products are among the highlights of the program.
Within the framework of the roadshow, the tourism delegation will implement multiple networking activities to sound out cooperation opportunities to ramp up the number of travelers from Cambodia and Thailand to Vietnam.
The program is also aimed at turning medical tourism products into drivers for Ho Chi Minh City’s tourism.
Hieu said at the launch of the program that the roadshow would tout Vietnam, especially Ho Chi Minh City, as a friendly, charming, and appealing tourist destination.
Ho Chi Minh City has a good geographical connection with Cambodia and boasts favorable traffic systems, as well as visa waiver programs for Southeast Asian nations, making it more attractive to Cambodian visitors.
Ngo Van Tuat, minister counselor of the Vietnamese Embassy in Cambodia, said that through the tourism roadshow in Cambodia, tourism services in Ho Chi Minh City would become more popular in the nation, smoothing the path to beef up two-way tourism.
Between January and May, Vietnam welcomed over 167,000 Cambodian visitors, accounting for 3.63 percent of the country’s total international arrivals.
The tourism promotion program will take place in Bangkok this month after it wraps up in Cambodia, with the participation of Thai travel firms, hospitals, and prestigious medical facilities.
As part of the program, Vietnam’s delegation will visit Bumrugrad and Vinmut hospitals, which are famous for medical tourism in Thailand.
