The Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism in Lai Chau Province, northern Vietnam announced on Monday that it would hold a trekking competition on the picturesque Ta Lien Son mountain range next month.
Participating trekkers will have a chance to immerse themselves in the natural unspoiled scenery and conquer the peak of the mountain.
Ta Lien Son Mountain stands in Ta Leng Commune under Tam Duong District.
It is the sixth-highest mountain in Vietnam at a height of 2,996 meters above sea level.
As planned, the inaugural race will take place at Ta Leng Ethnic High School in the district early on the morning of December 17.
Trekkers aged from 16 can join the race.
The trekking race on Ta Lien Son Mountain is aimed at promoting the spirit of sports, improving health, developing the adventurous sports, and spurring trekking.
Through the trekking competition, the province expects to introduce its potential for travel and the beauty of its natural landscapes and cultures to domestic and international visitors.
The race is meant to entice tour operators and investors to the province to sound out cooperation and investment opportunities.
The projected Ta Lien Son Mountain trekking journey will bring trekkers to real-life enchanted woods.
