Thousands of residents and tourists gathered along the Dinh River in Khanh Hoa Province on Saturday to enjoy a flower boat festival featuring 28 flower boats and a boat race.

Spectators showed their excitement at the event held in Ninh Hoa Town, Khanh Hoa Province.

The 28 flower boats were colorful and eye-catching. Besides flowers, they were decorated with miniatures.

Meanwhile, the boat race attracted over 100 racers from communes and wards in Ninh Hoa Town. They competed a distance of 700 meters in the categories of men's doubles, women's doubles, and mixed doubles.

Le Minh Tam, vice-chairman of the People’s Committee of Ninh Hoa Town, said the flower boat festival and boat race had become an annual event attracting a huge number of residents and tourists.

It helps preserve cultural values and introduce the landscapes and people in Ninh Hoa Town. The town expected to develop the event into its typical tourism product during the Lunar New Year holiday, or Tet, Tam added.

A tourist from Ho Chi Minh City named Le Minh Tam said she was impressed by the flower boats and expected the local authorities to scale up the event.
