Cuc Phuong National Park in northern Vietnam was honored as ‘Asia’s Leading National Park 2024’ at the 31st annual World Travel Awards Asia & Oceania Gala Ceremony 2024 held in Manila, the Philippines on Tuesday evening.
The park has won this accolade every year since 2019.
The national park in Ninh Binh Province surpassed several rivals, including Nepal’s Chitwan National Park, Japan's Fuji-Hakone-Izu National Park, Malaysia's Kinabalu National Park and Taman Negara National Park, Sri Lanka's Minneriya National Park, and Vietnam’s Cat Tien National Park.
Cuc Phuong National Park, Vietnam's first national park, is recognized as one of the country's leading state-run entities, playing a crucial role in supporting both local and international environmental organizations.
Nguyen Van Chinh, the park's director, said that winning the award is a significant achievement for Vietnam's forests and the nation's ecotourism sector.
He credited this accomplishment to the relentless efforts of the park's staff over the past 60 years and the invaluable support from local communities, experts, scientists, and visitors.
In addition to Cuc Phuong's accolade, numerous other destinations, brands, travel agencies, and resorts in Vietnam were also honored at the awards ceremony.
