Nearly 600 pets, including poodles, pugs, British longhair cats, Scottish fold cats, and hamsters, were brought to the second Pet Perfect Festival at Suoi Tien Theme Park in Ho Chi Minh City on Sunday.

The event was aimed at spreading love for animals and providing a fun space for pet lovers.

The pets got to interact with their new four-legged friends, play in a special pet zone, and receive gifts from various booths.

Each participant entering the Pet Perfect contest paid a registration fee of VND49,000 (US$1.93), with all proceeds donated to shelters and funds for homeless cats and dogs.

Quoc Binh, residing in Binh Thanh District, shared his excitement about taking his golden cat, Ghe, to the fest, elaborating that his laid-back feline, known for its leisurely lifestyle, typically spends its days lounging around the house.

The event not only featured a vast array of pets in fancy dress but also heart-warming pet rescue stories.

Speaking to Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper, Nguyen Hong An hailing from Thu Duc City, an administrative district under Ho Chi Minh City, recalled the first time she met her cat, Lo Lo, and how she rescued the cat from the side of Hanoi Highway.

She nursed Lo Lo back to health and made the cat part of her family.

Loan, another pet lover from District 5, told Tuoi Tre an emotional story about her poodle, Gau.

“Gau initially belonged to my neighbor, but every night, I could hear him whimpering and his owner yelling at him,” Loan narrated.

"This broke my heart, so my husband and I decided to offer a high price to buy Gau, hoping to give the poodle a better life filled with happiness."
