Suburban areas in Da Lat City of Lam Dong Province, located in Vietnam’s Central Highlands region, seem to don a yellow coat as wild sunflowers have burst into full bloom.

The city boasts many locations with expansive wild sunflower meadows, as well as hills draped with wild sunflowers.

Photos of the wild sunflowers on various channels are like a call for tourists to rush to Da Lat to admire the endless wild sunflower vistas amid the cold weather.

One of the most picturesque routes for observing the wild sunflowers is the Lien Khuong-Prenn Expressway, where the flowers are planted around vegetable gardens. 

Wild sunflowers in full bloom also blanket the Voi Mountain side, making it a magnificent scene.

Visitors can reach the site by traveling along National Highway 20 to Hiep An and Hiep Thanh communes in Duc Trong District, Lam Dong Province, just a 10-20-minute motorbike ride from Da Lat.

Tourists should visit outskirt areas in Da Lat as well as Don Duong and Duc Trong Districts before 10:00 am and after 3:00 pm to take photos with the wild sunflowers.

Wild sunflowers go by several Vietnamese names, including ‘da quy,’ ‘huong duong dai,’ ‘cuc quy,’ and ‘son quy.’ 

The flowers belong to the chrysanthemum plant family and typically grow into two- to three-meter-high bushes.

The blooming season typically starts at the end of October and ends at the end of November each year, or when the rainy season ends.
