Over 150 unique and antique ceramic items with floral patterns are on display at the History Museum of Ho Chi Minh City.

The exhibition of these antiquities themed ‘Flowers Blossom - Flowers in Eastern Ceramics Art’ was opened to the public on Wednesday, and runs until the end of March.

The display is one of numerous activities to welcome the 2025 spring at the museum.

Most of the ceramic antiquities were crafted during the Ly, Tran, Le, and Nguyen Dynasties, spanning from the 11th century to the early 20th century.

Their motifs feature various flowers of the four seasons, namely spring, summer, fall, and winter, such as apricot blossom, peach blossom, peony, lotus, orchid, chrysanthemum, cedar and phyllostachys plant, a genus of Asian bamboo.

These artifacts, including jars, urns, flasks, vases, bottles, and plates, are being showcased under four seasonal themes.

The ceramics, adorned with motifs of apricot blossoms, peach blossoms and peonies, embody the spring, a symbol of vitality.

As for ceramic products decorated with lotus and orchid patterns, the summer immediately comes to visitors’ minds.

Meanwhile, chrysanthemums are a quintessential symbol of autumn. Ceramic designs adorned with chrysanthemum motifs evoke images of cool breezes and the changing colors of leaves.

Similarly, depictions of cedars and phyllostachys plants on ceramics conjure a serene picture of winter.

“This exhibition offers visitors a chance to admire exquisite artifacts while celebrating ceramic art as a cherished heritage of the East,” said Hoang Anh Tuan, director of the museum.
