Vietnam’s Ha Long City has more to offer than just Ha Long Bay

Touristy Ha Long City in the northern province of Quang Ninh has been chosen as one of the 12 destinations to host the ongoing 31st Southeast Asian (SEA) Games in Vietnam.

Aside from its world-famous Ha Long Bay, the city offers visitors a wide range of experiences including museums, beaches, aerial tours, and more.

Inaugurated in October 2013, the Quang Ninh Museum quickly became a must-see attraction for visitors to Ha Long City. The 15,000-square-meter museum boasts more than 6,000 artifacts, documents, and images about Quang Ninh province displayed throughout its two exhibition blocks and garden. The venue is open to visitors from 8am to 3pm from Tuesday to Sunday. Tickets fetch from VND10,000-30,000 (US$ 0.43 to 1.29). Photo: Nam Tran / Tuoi Tre

Recently, kayaking on the bay has been introduced, but most kayaking trips take place in the month of May when the sea is calm. Famous kayaking spots in Ha Long include Ha Long Bay, Dong Tien Lake, Trinh Nu Cave, Trong Cave, Ba Hang Village, Luon Cave, and Tung Sau Bay.
