The British Chamber of Commerce Vietnam (BritCham) has announced the 20th annual BritCham Charity Fun Run in Ho Chi Minh City, or Fun Run 2020, which will take place on November 15.

Since the introduction of the event, BritCham has raised more than VND12 billion (US$518,000) for charitable programs across Vietnam and attracted approximately 120,000 runners and walkers.

The Fun Run is created to not only promote a healthier lifestyle with outdoor activities but to also support people in need throughout Vietnam.

Last year, BritCham raised around VND1 billion ($43,000) from the Fun Run 2019, which attracted 11,500 participants.

According to BritCham, the Fun Run 2020 will begin at 7:00 am in Tan Trao, Phu My Hung, Tan Phu Ward, District 7, Ho Chi Minh City.

The run will begin outside the Paragon Mall and draw almost a rectangular route back to venue.

Fun Run 2020 will take place on Sunday, November 15, 2020.

BritCham Charity Fun Run 2020 will take place in Ho Chi Minh City on November 15, 2020.

British Deputy Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City Sam Wood recognized the year 2020 as “slightly unusual” and made events around the world such as the Fun Run unimaginable due to the ongoing disruption from the coronavirus.

However, the diplomat showed appreciation toward the efforts of Vietnam in containing the outbreak.

This year, Le Dang Khoa, one of the investors in Shark Tank Vietnam, will be the Goodwill Ambassador for the BritCham Charity Fun Run.

Speaking at a press conference on Thursday, he emphasized his belief in businesses’ responsibility for serving the community, which should be unified with meaningful events like BritCham Charity Fun Run.

The event is an ideal way for businesses across the country to participate in community and social projects, Khoa said.

Besides its exciting marathon, the Fun Run 2020 will offer various prizes to winners.

The prizes are divided into Male, Female, and Teen categories, with VND15-30 million ($647-1,294) to be awarded to each winner.

At the Fun Run 2020, participants will enjoy performances of Asia Music & Performance Arts Education, InQ International, and singer Orange.

Great prizes from lucky draws will also be available.

From 2019 to 2020, BritCham has funded charitable organizations such as Blue Dragon, Operation Smile, Pacific Links, Bong Sen Center for Community Development, and the ‘Road to Happiness’ project.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, BritCham has reached out further to the Vietnam Young Physician Association, Saigon Children’s Charity, and Christina Noble’s Children Foundation to provide help for those in need.
