A Vietjet Air (VJA) aircraft has been grounded for maintenance after the collision of birds and its engine broke out, the second time this week, according to the announcement of the private airline.
Birds were detected to get into an engine of a VJA aircraft flying from teh Central Highlands city of Da Lat to Noi Bai Airport in Hanoi on Tuesday, causing the next flights deploying the air plane on Wednesday to be postponed, said Vietjet Air.
VJA has also announced the incident to customers, and adjust the priority schedule to limit the impact on its passenger transport service.
When waiting for the arrangement for another flight, passengers will be served with food and accommodation as prescribed, "said VietJetAir.
Facing consecutive incidents caused by the collision between birds and VJA aircraft, Luong The Phuc, VJA’s deputy general manager, have met with the Civil Aviation Administration of Vietnam (CAAV) on the improvement of chasing bird work at the local airport.
CAAV chief Lai Xuan Thanh has told newswire Dan Viet that the agency has started to work on the problem after the meeting.
Desmond Lin, director of business development VJA said, such collisions are not rare in the world and in Vietnam. Especially, in the rainy season in Vietnam, faster grass buildup near the runway is also a factor attracting birds.
“At present, although all international and local airports are equipped with bird deterrent devices, but they cannot fully prevent this situation.”
"The last incident was fortunately only minor bumps, and VietJetAir has asked to postpone the coming flights to ensure safety for passengers, "said Lin.
