Khanh Hoa Province in south-central Vietnam has approved a project to develop a night-time economy in the province until 2030, focusing on four aspects—culture and entertainment, catering, shopping, and tourism.
The provincial People’s Committee said on Monday that it would execute the project in two phases.
In the first phase, from 2023 to 2025, the province will review and choose units to boost its existing night-time cultural, entertainment, catering, shopping, and tourism services.
In addition, Khanh Hoa will launch more entertainment and seasport services; develop pedestrian streets, food streets, and coastal bars and pubs; hold artistic shows; and call on trade centers, supermarkets, and convenience stores to extend their opening times later.
In the second phase, lasting from 2026 to 2030, it will complete a night-time development model, call for investment, and execute projects.
The province targets cultural and entertainment activities at night in Nha Trang City, along Bai Dai, Nhu Tien and Doc Let beaches, and in entertainment complexes.
It will also maintain the annual organization of and upgrade the Nha Trang-Khanh Hoa Sea Festival as well as an international sailing boat race festival.
The south-central province will study and propose allowing inland waterway cruise ships to operate until 11:00 pm every day and call on these vessels to upgrade and adequately equip facilities to host cultural, entertainment, and culinary activities on board.

Khanh Hoa has the potential to develop the night-time economy with its existing infrastructure and night-time services.
However, the province has exploited them at a modest scale in some areas, and has yet to create its hallmarks, according to the provincial People’s Committee.
Current night-time economic activities have faced multiple challenges relating to security, order, infrastructure, and noise pollution.
As a result, the night-time economic development project in Khanh Hoa until 2030 is necessary.
The province does not encourage the night-time economic development on a large scale.
It will focus on developing the night-time economy after 10:00 pm in line with prevailing regulations in iconic and popular destinations of both domestic and international tourists.
Nguyen Thi Ha, deputy director of the provincial Department of Planning and Investment, told Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper that units under the department are executing the project.
