The Department of Planning and Investment of Quang Tri Province in north-central Vietnam is consulting several ministries and agencies over a Singaporean firm’s proposal to acquire a 100-percent stake in two local companies which are operating a total of five wind power projects in the province.
The provincial department sent its dispatches to the Ministry of Planning and Investment, the Ministry of Public Security, and the Ministry of Industry and Trade, along with many provincial departments and agencies to seek feedback on the proposal, a source of Tuoi Tre (Youth) newspaper said on Saturday.
In late November, Singapore-headquartered Sembcorp Solar Vietnam Company wrote to the provincial department, seeking permission to acquire a 100-percent stake valued at VND710 billion (US$29.2 million) in Dien Gio Huong Phung Company.
The firm also sought the provincial department’s nod to spend VND1.269 trillion ($51.1 million) on the acquisition of Quang Tri Gelex Energy Company.
Dien Gio Huong Phung Company is running two wind farms, namely Huong Phung 2 and 3, which were put into service in October 2021 and were licensed to operate for 50 years.
The company had previously been granted 14 certificates of land use rights and ownership of houses and other land-attached assets. The two projects cover a combined 14 hectares of land.
Meanwhile, Quang Tri Gelex Energy Company owns three wind power plants, including Gelex 1, 2, and 3, which started their operations in October 2021.
The provincial department issued 23 certificates of land use rights and ownership of houses and land-attached assets to the three projects spanning a total of 23 hectares of land.
Earlier in mid-November, Quang Tri Province wrote to the Ministry of National Defense asking for feedback on proposals from two Chinese investors on buying a 50-percent stake in the Amaccao Quang Tri 1 wind power project.
