American industrial conglomerate 3M officially opened its Science and Technology Center at the Technopark building in suburban Hanoi’s Gia Lam District on Tuesday.
The opening ceremony was attended by Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc and U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam Marc E. Knapper.
The modern experience center not only offers a wide range of solutions for traffic safety and commercial markets, but also advanced electronic technologies and solutions that the diversified American corporation is deploying in Southeast Asia.
Steven Vander Louw, president of the electronic materials solutions division at 3M, explained that the center is outfitted with state-of-the-art laboratories, research facilities, and collaborative workspaces designed to support customers and enhance Vietnam's industrial capabilities, solidifying its status as a leader in electronics manufacturing.
During the event, Deputy Minister Ngoc emphasized that the center's opening signifies Vietnam's emergence as a hub for global high-tech, innovation, and research and development initiatives.

Ngoc emphasized Vietnam's selective investment attraction policy, which prioritizes sectors such as high-tech, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, research and development, renewable energy, hydrogen, and infrastructure projects.
She noted that U.S. investors possess significant potential and strengths in these areas.
She expressed her hope that the 3M Science and Technology Center and the National Innovation Center will forge substantial and effective partnerships in the years ahead.
Ambassador Knapper remarked that the center's launch underscores 3M's unwavering commitment to advancing technology development and innovation while strengthening bilateral relations between Vietnam and the U.S..
“Our comprehensive strategic partnership is built on shared values and interests, including our commitment to promoting economic growth, technological advancement, and sustainable development,” the U.S. diplomat continued.
