The ninth Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will take place in Buon Ma Thuot City in the Central Highlands province of Dak Lak from March 9 to 13, featuring a mesmerizing light display created by 500 drones.
Lai Duc Dai, deputy director of the provincial Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, announced on Wednesday that the drone light show was set to last for 15 minutes on the evening of March 12.
The display will unfold above the city, with the drones flying up to 300 meters in the air.
The dazzling paintings created by the drones are meant to celebrate Vietnam's coffee industry.
During the drone display, police officers will be stationed to monitor air safety and ensure security in the area, Dai said.
The 2025 Buon Ma Thuot Coffee Festival will also treat fest-goers to a variety of thrilling events, including a rock music festival, an elephant festival, and a boat race in Lak District, as well as art performances.
According to Nguyen Tuan Ha, vice-chairman of the provincial administration, with a coffee cultivation area of nearly 210,000 hectares, the province turns out over 520,000 metric tons of coffee beans annually, accounting for over 30 percent of Vietnam’s total output.
The coffee grown in Dak Lak is exported to hundreds of countries and territories worldwide.
Ha emphasized this edition of the biennial festival would not only honor the coffee industry and coffee farmers, but also promote investment, trade, and tourism.
