Vietnamese electric vehicle (EV) maker VinFast has signed a strategic memorandum of understanding with PT Bank Negara Indonesia (BNI) to build a sustainable transport ecosystem, with a focus on providing financial solutions that make it easier for Indonesians to own EVs.

The signing took place on Monday during the Vietnam-Indonesia High-Level Business Dialogue held in Jakarta, all witnessed by Vietnamese Party General Secretary To Lam and top officials from both countries.

The partnership is aimed at accelerating the transition to EVs in Indonesia, making it more accessible to consumers.

Under the deal, BNI will not only act as a strategic partner, but also provide financial products and consulting services for VinFast, other companies within the Vingroup ecosystem, and customers.

Meanwhile, VinFast will offer various incentives related to vehicle prices, services, and flexible financial solutions to BNI’s employees and partners.

The collaboration is also meant to raise public awareness about sustainable development.

Both sides plan to launch awareness campaigns, contributing to achieving the net-zero emission goal and reinforcing the bilateral relationship between Vietnam and Indonesia.

With the partnership with BNI, VinFast hoped to make it easier for Indonesians to transition to electric vehicles, generating positive social impact, said Pham Thuy Linh, deputy CEO of VinFast Global.

Agung Prabowo, a member of BNI's board of directors, praised VinFast for its 'For a Green Future' ecosystem.

“The cooperation not only opens up new business opportunities, but also strengthens the relationship between the two countries, fostering long-term prosperity,” Prabowo affirmed.

Within just over a year of its presence in Indonesia, VinFast has made significant strides, including launching an assembly plant, debuting electric vehicles, and establishing a network of dealerships and service centers.

The partnership with BNI was seen as a boost for VinFast to expand its reach and bring Vietnamese electric vehicles to the Southeast Asian region.
