A thank you before our new page

A thank you before our new page

Saturday, March 23, 2013, 16:12 GMT+7

Dear readers,

Tomorrow will mark a new page in the journey of Tuoitrenews, with its new version set for an official start. Before celebrating this new milestone, we would like to express our thanks and gratitude to readers for supporting us over the years and during the preparation to launch this new platform.

“This is a very good development, the layout is better and easy to navigate,” reader Ashish said after experiencing the new version during beta tests last week.

“It's very good... much easier to read and it downloads much quicker,” said frequent reader and contributor Stivi Cook.

This positive feedback, as well as many other similar comments sent to us so far, has strongly encouraged us and assured us that we are on the right track.

The new version is not just a surface redesign. We did not simply wrap ourselves in a new look, but will continue striving to sharpen our coverage content, with the goal of becoming an English-language newswire that delivers the most credible, accurate, and up-to-date news in Vietnam.

“It is very good, a perfect official version. Readers appreciate and hope that Tuoitre will continuously provide the most valuable and latest news,” said a reader who simply signed “Khanh” on his feedback to us.

Another message, left by a reader named JT, said: “The reporting is still relevant and interesting. Nice undercover work.”

We are deeply grateful to all of your comments and encouragement, and are committed to improving our coverage to be more newsworthy, credible, accurate, and updated.

We are set to deliver more reflexive reports about Vietnam in all aspects, and also aim to become a rendezvous for visitors to read, to share, and to understand more and have a greater love for Vietnam.

As for the updated version, we have also received valuable suggestions from readers.

“I have always liked the audio stories on the original version. But please attach the written words to the audio links. I like to read and listen as it helps me learn the proper way to pronounce Vietnamese words and names,” said Keith J Locke.

You spoke, and we listened. In the very near future, the audio player will be put on top of the articles, so that readers can choose either to read or listen to the stories, or may be both.

Some readers have also made technological suggestions for the new website.

“I think it's essential to have a Tuoitrenews version that can be well accessed via mobile devices,” Tran Tien Tai wrote, while Ashish reminded us to “ensure that videos can be played on an iPad.”

We are considering these technical issues and will adjust them soon.

We would also like to say thank you to readers who participated in our quiz series during the last Tet holiday. Congratulations to the winners, and to all contestants, we are looking forward to seeing you all again in our future programs.

Dear readers, thank you again for supporting us over the years. Let’s have a fresh start with the new Tuoitrenews.
