Two Vietnamese higher education institutions are ranked in the top 200 Asian universities, according to the list released on May 12 by a well-known organization.
This is the first time two Vietnamese universities, the Vietnam National University – Hanoi and the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City, have been listed among the top 200 Asian universities.
The QS ranking, also known as QS World University Rankings, was published by Quacquarelli Symonds, a famous and trusted British educational consultant.
Accordingly, the Vietnam National University – Hanoi was in the group of 161 – 170 top Asian universities while the Vietnam National University – Ho Chi Minh City was listed in the group of 191 – 200.
According to Nguyen Dinh Duc, head of training of the Vietnam National University – Hanoi, being listed in the top 200 universities in Asia is an important and meaningful milestone for the school, especially in terms of fostering relationships with foreign partners in the future.
“QS is the world’s well-known ranking as it collects information from numerous sources as well as evaluates universities based on different criteria including teaching staff and quality of the conditions. At the Vietnam National University – Hanoi, we also rely on the QS rankings when adjudging international affiliate programs,” he added.
This year, the National University of Singapore (NUS) – which was previously listed second in the 2013 ranking – became Asia’s top university, while Vietnam’s Hanoi University of Science and Technology is included on the list of QS’s top 300 Asian universities.
Besides NUS, the top 10 Asian universities include the Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology (KAIST) in second place, the University of Hong Kong in third place, and the Seoul National University in fourth place.
