The Belgian Bilateral Scholarship Program for the 2015-2016 academic year has started receiving applications, the Embassy and Consulate of Belgium in Vietnam have announced on their website.

According to the website, within the framework of its Indicative Cooperation Program for the period of 2011-2015 with Vietnam, the government of Belgium wishes to support the Vietnamese government in its efforts to reduce poverty and achieve sustainable development through human resource training.

Belgian Bilateral Scholarships enable young professionals from Vietnam to pursue master’s studies in Belgium and gain new expertise for the benefit of their country.

There will be around 30 full master’s scholarships – which cover a return ticket to Belgium, all tuition fees, basic health insurance, a monthly stipend, and allowances – to be granted for the 2015 intake.

The program welcomes candidates from public institutions, NGOs, and private sectors in all provinces and regions of Vietnam, especially women and those coming from remote areas.

Applicants are required to be Vietnamese citizens, not to be married or engaged to a person holding or eligible to hold Belgian citizenship, not to be older than 35 at the moment of application, to hold a full-time official university degree, and to be fluent in English or French.

Candidates are also advised to have good academic records and working experience relevant to their desired study fields, as well as to show potential to contribute to the development of Vietnam.

Priority will be given to such study fields as water resource management, environmental issues, climate change, urbanization, engineering, and governance. Applications will be accepted at the Development Cooperation Office – Embassy of Belgium, 9th Floor Hanoi Towers at 49 Hai Ba Trung Street in Hanoi’s Hoan Kiem District by 5:00 pm on December 30.

Detailed information on the program’s requirements and application procedures can be found at http://countries.diplomatie.belgium.be/en/vietnam.
