Google announced on Friday the launch of the government app verification feature in Vietnam, developed in collaboration with the Authority of Information Security and the Ministry of Information and Communications to enhance anti-fraud and online safety.
The two sides have worked closely to verify the legitimacy of government applications, ensuring they accurately represent state agencies and provide essential services to Vietnamese citizens, including public services and identification.
When users access the Google Play store, they will see a “Government” verification label on legitimate apps, giving them confidence in the app’s credibility.
This initiative is especially crucial as the demand for public services in Vietnam continues to rise, and the number of government apps is expanding rapidly.
“The new government app verification feature on Google Play is a vital addition, making it easier for Vietnamese people to identify and download legitimate government apps,” Tran Quang Hung, acting director of the Authority of Information Security, stated.
“This is a key step forward in ensuring easy access to official and reliable government information.
“We appreciate Google’s commitment to implementing this initiative.”
Wilson White, vice president of government affairs and public policy at Google Asia-Pacific, emphasized that as more public apps provide essential services, Google aims to ensure users can easily find the applications they need.
He also expressed appreciation for the cooperation of government agencies and developers in deploying this feature and looks forward to further development and collaboration in the future.
