Seven Vietnamese artists are in the running against world contestants at the annual Sexiest Vegetarian Celebrity contest organized by People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) on PETAAsiaPacific.com.
They are singers Ho Quynh Huong, Vo Ha Tram, and Ha Okio, beauty queen Truong Thi May, actors Dại Nghia and Thuy Tien, and VJ Thanh Bach.
The artists have to compete with 289 global vegetarian celebrities like former US President Bill Clinton; singers Jason Mraz, Carrie Underwood, and Leona Lewis; actors Natalie Portman, Kristen Bell, Tobey Maguire, Jared Leto and Anne Hathaway; and talk-show host Ellen DeGeneres.
The contest, running from now through 18 June, will have two winners, one male and one female. PETA will ultimately decide the winners one day later, based on several factors, including the number of votes received.
"When you look at the gorgeous celebrities in this year's contest, it's clear that eating vegetarian meals makes you beautiful inside and out", said Jason Baker, PETA Asia Vice President of International Operations.
"After all, going vegetarian is the best thing that you can do for animals, the Earth and yourself. Plus, everyone knows that there's nothing sexier than someone who exudes both passion and compassion," he said.

PETA Asia early last month conferred the “Hero to Animals” awards on three Hanoi police units for their feats of busting the illegal transport and trading of over 100 king cobras. The Traffic Police Team 14 of Hanoi’s Hoang Mai District Police Department and the Police Department of Environment Related Crimes under the Ministry of Public Security were honored with the awards for two seizures resulting in the rescue of more than 100 illegally transported king cobras. |
