Vietnamese French guitarist Nguyen Le is set to give a jazz concert called “Songs of freedom” in Hanoi tonight, Nov 20.

The concert, to take place at L'Espace, 24-26, Trang Tien, Hoan Kiem district, at 8pm, will also feature other international artists including Himiko Paganotti, Romain Labaye, Illya Amar and Stephane Galland.

“Songs of freedom” is also the title of Le’s 2011 album, in which he renewed pop rock hits in the 1970s, such as The Beatles’ “Come together”, Stevie Wonder’s “I wish” and Bob Marley’s “Redemption Song”,  with his richly improvisational jazz. The album topped iTunes’ and Amazon’s charts.

Le, who has released over 20 CDs since 1999, was awarded the honorable French title “Chevalier des arts et des lettres” (Knight of the Order of the Arts and Letters) in 2011 for his massive efforts in promoting French jazz around the globe.
