The 9th summer camp for expat Vietnamese youth is running in Ho Chi Minh City until Friday.
This year’s camp, themed “Bien Xanh Que Em” (My Home Country’s Blue Seas), draws 60 participants from 10 countries, including the UK, the U.S., Germany, Russia, Belgium, Canada, Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Ukraine.
The campers made incense offerings to Ho Chi Minh President Statue in the downtown area and joined exchanges and chess competitions with students from Nguyen Dinh Chieu School for the Blind.
The youngsters are set to learn about the recently UNESCO-recognized “don ca tai tu” (southern traditional singing) with Prof. Tran Van Khe, an eminent expert on traditional music.
They will also take part in exchanges with the Vietnam People’s Navy Brigade 171 and visit Vung Tau resort city in southern Ba Ria- Vung Tau Province, some 120km from Ho Chi Minh City.
The event is organized annually by the State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs and the HCMC Youth Union Central Committee.
